C2ActionGram Pledge of Allegiance Bill Stalled by Jim Black Friends,
First of all, thank you for your efforts in getting the Pledge of Allegiance bill out of the NC House Education Committee - the vote was unanimous. We were hopeful that it would get a quick hearing and vote on the floor, but it appears that Jim Black places a different value on our nation's Pledge of Allegiance than the 90% of North Carolinians who support it.
For three days in a row the Pledge bill has been on the House agenda for a vote (where it will most likely pass)...and for three days in a row Speaker Black has refused to let it be voted on.
We must let Speaker Black know that we will not stand idly by while he disrespects our nation and history, especially during a time of war.
This is clearly a bi-partisan issue with bi-partisan support. This bill is sponsored by democrats and republicans, passed the NC Senate 49-0, and came out of the House Education Committee by a unanimous vote. Speaker Black is out of excuses!
The Fourth of July is next Tuesday and we will be celebrating the 230th Birthday of our great nation. What better way to celebrate than to show your support for our Flag, Pledge and Country! Please contact Speaker Black at the numbers, faxes and emails listed below. Urge him to allow the Pledge of Allegiance bill to come to the House floor for a vote on Monday, July 3rd. Additionally, please send a note to your NC Representative in the House and ask them to do what they can for this bill (find your representative here). As always, please be firm, but polite.
