C2ActionGram NC Senate Trying to Kill Pledge Bill! Friends,
The Pledge fight isn't over, and the leadership of the Senate is to blame:
Presiding Office Lt. Governor Beverly Perdue
President Pro Tem Marc Basnight
Rules Chairman Tony Rand
The leadership of the North Carolina Senate has no problem killing the Pledge of Allegiance bill (with a combined "YES" vote of 155-1) two days after this great nation's 230th birthday!
The NC Senate passed this bill 49-0 last year. It was a democrat's bill then, and its a democrat's bill now. The language is the same today as it was last year. They have placed it in a committee that hasn't met in four years - Senators refer to it as "the graveyard". It will sit there and die in the next few days if we don't act.
We need your help to put overwhelming pressure on the Senate leadership. Please use every contact source listed below. Our message is simple:
Killing the Pledge of Allegiance bill, which has near unanimous support, is reprehensible behavior and a clear abuse of your power. The will of the People and the will of their Legislators has been clearly demonstrated. You MUST allow this bill to the floor for the concurrence vote!
