C2ActionGram Senator Rand's Office Misleading Callers Friends,
Senator Rand's office is replying to your phone calls and emails with a misleading answer. In a nutshell, here is their reply:
We already passed a Pledge Bill. The one the House sent over is different, and doesn't even require students to say the Pledge. We wanted our bill - that's not what they sent back. The bill we passed requires students to say the Pledge...the one the House sent doesn't.
This could not be any further from the truth. Neither bill makes the recitation of the Pledge mandatory. In fact, both bills state, "...these policies shall not compel any person to stand, salute the flag, or recite the Pledge of Allegiance". The "new" version of the bill is virtually identical, except for one point: it says nothing about "state symbols". That is hardly grounds for killing the Pledge of Allegiance bill!
If you get this response from Rand or Basnight's office, please counter them with the facts!
Keep up the phone calls, faxes and emails. Senator Hunt has called a press conference for next Monday morning at 9:30am at the Legislature. Please be in prayer...and keep the heat on!
In His Service,
Steve Noble
Chairman
