Pledge Bill Passed Today!

Friends,

The Pledge of Allegiance bill passed late this afternoon! Praise the Lord for this great victory, and a big THANK YOU to all of you who contacted the leaders of our legislature. We are also indebted to our friends at the American Family Association (www.afa.net) who helped us carry this initiative statewide. Together, our grassroots efforts gave this bill the weight it needed to get through the political barbed wire of the North Carolina General Assembly.

The final vote was just as "interesting" as the entire process has been...

The vote wasn't officially scheduled on the Senate calendar for today.
The first vote resulted in a 24-24 tie, with Senator Julia Boseman arguing against the slightly revised version of her Senate bill. Another interesting point was the fact that Lt. Governor Beverly Perdue did not step in to break the tie.
Senator Rand called for a brief recess and huddled with various members of the Senate.
After this brief recess, Senator Rand called for another vote and it passed 28-21.

We are trying to get Julian Quesada, the Apex High School student that started this ball rolling in the first place, into the signing with Governor Easley (if there is one), so please pray for that to occur! This is a great testament to the power of our voices when we unite and speak as one, and exactly what we have prayed for as Called2Action continues to develop. Please keep us in your prayers as we seek to build C2A into an effective network of statewide chapters, and then, if its God's will, see that model spread nationally as committed, like-minded people come together to speak and act as One Voice.
