C2ActionGram First New Strip Joint in 10 Years? Friends, For the first time in 10 years, there may be a new adult business built in Raleigh. "The Runway" is an adult entertainment business (strip joint) that received initial approval from the Raleigh Board of Adjustments in a controversial vote back in the Spring. The main issue is the 2000 foot restriction rule that helps keep these types of businesses away from schools, churches and neighborhoods. The Board of Adjustments gave the owners of "The Runway" a variance on this rule regarding a martial arts business nearby who's clients include children and single mothers. An appeal was filed on behalf of many of the surrounding businesses (including The Angus Barn) who were involved in the original fight at the Board of Adjustments hearing. The case will be heard next Monday, July 31st at the NC Superior Court in downtown Raleigh. This "strip joint" will be located near the end of Mt. Herman Road, overlooking the intersection of I-540 and Glenwood Avenue (see a map here). Since it will be a 3-story building, it will probably be visible from all lanes of travel on I-540 & Glenwood Avenue. This is a prominent location and only minutes away from the Brier Creek neighborhoods and shopping areas. In that location, its like yelling, "Welcome to Raleigh...Home of Adult Businesses!". Unfortunately, we missed our opportunity to voice our opposition in the Board of Adjustments proceedings, but we can still make a difference. Here is what we need to do:
Wake County Civil Superior Court
10th Floor - Courtroom B
316 Fayetteville St. Mall
Raleigh, NC 27601
Forward this email on to all of your friends (especially if they live in Brier Creek)...print this ActionGram and hand it out to your friends at church this Sunday...call you Pastor and ask him to mention it from the pulpit...tell as many people as you can...but most importantly...
PRAY & SHOW UP!!!
In His Service,
Steve Noble
Chairman
