Year-Round Conversions of Wake Co. Schools

Friends,

We have received several emails regarding our recent ActionGram on the mandatory year-round conversion issue. We sincerely appreciate the candor of the comments, and as the Body of Christ, we must come together to discuss any areas of disagreement: "Come now, let us reason together," says the Lord. -Isaiah 1:18

The complexity of this issue is immense, and the emails we have received put forth well reasoned and passionate arguments on both sides of the challenge. This issue is far more divisive within our own ranks than most issues we have addressed in the past, and because of that fact we felt it necessary to clarify several points:

C2A is not taking a position against the year-round school model. Many parents and teachers alike are thrilled with the year-round approach and we support them.
C2A is concerned with the mandatory conversion to year-round because there are possibly thousands of families that could experience hardships for a number of reasons.
C2A is concerned with the possible effects these mass conversions could have on some classical "summer" activities (i.e. vacation bible schools, Christian summer camps, etc.).
C2A is concerned with the division that is already occurring within the Christian community due to this incredibly complex and emotional issue.

Therefore, after much prayer and careful consideration, we have decided not to actively engage this issue, which does not have a clearly defined Biblical position. First of all, we encourage everyone to pray for wisdom for decision-makers and parents. Secondly, as always, we encourage you to vote your values. For instance, FIVE Wake County School Board seats are up in 2007. C2A will be active in those races and many others. We hope you will be, too.
