C2A petitions Raleigh City Council to put up a Nativity Display in Moore Square.
Friends,
Please join us next Tuesday night, December 5th as we seek permission from the Raleigh City Council to put up a Nativity Scene in Moore Square!
If you live in N. Raleigh, you probably have noticed the large Nativity scene in front of a small business on Strickland Road near Lead Mine Road. I stopped in earlier this week just to say "Thank You" to the management and share with them about our Christmas display last year. A few hours later we were speaking with the owner and shortly after that he emailed us with the news that they had secured a donation from their supplier for the materials needed as well as a $1000 donation to help pay the labor for putting it up! Finally, our friends at another small business agreed to supply the additional items we need such as the banner we want to put up that features some Christmas Scripture and a Merry Christmas message. God is so good!
Last year it was "smooth sailing" when we asked the Council for permission (Praise God!), but the display was designed in such a way that the city of Raleigh itself could have put it up. This year's display is strictly a Christian focus, but since it will be put up & paid for by private citizens, we have every constitutional right to do so. Please pray that God will grant us favor with the Council, but if there is a "legal snag", we are prepared to act quickly to see our rights protected.
Help us share the Hope of Christ in downtown Raleigh this Christmas Season by praying for and attending next Tuesday's Raleigh City Council meeting!
Tuesday, December 5th at 7:00pm in the Council chambers: 222 W. Hargett Street, 2nd Floor.
(At the corner of W. Hargett St. and S. Dawson St. - see a map here)
In His Service, and wishing you a Merry Christmas!
Steve Noble, Chairman
