C2A... FYI As we engage... Friends, Next week you will be receiving an ActionGram urging you to help us get the NC Marriage Amendment bill (S13) out of a "dead" committee to the floor of our State Senate for debate and a vote. Much like the Pledge of Allegiance initiative, our prayers must be at the forefront with our actions right behind. But as we move forward, I felt compelled to challenge each one of us to use Ephesians 4:29-32 as our guide:
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is good for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Eph 4:29-32
In the early days of C2A I really struggled with my anger toward those who don't share our biblical worldview, but sometime last year a simple question kept tugging at my heart: Would I get mad at a blind man for stepping on my foot? Of course the answer is no, but I wasn't living by that principle. It's biblical to be angry at the Deceiver, but not at the deceived. As we begin to contact State Senators via email, phone & fax, please remember that we do not know the state of their souls. Some are saved, some are not. By applying Ephesians 4:29-32 to our communications, we can accomplish three separate things:
This does not have anything to do with our tenacity...we must keep the "heat" on until our state protects marriage to the greatest degree it can, as well as granting us our right to be heard via our votes. I believe that God will grant us this victory if we fight on His terms...Pray without ceasing and then "Do not merely listen to the Word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says". In this broken world it is the Christian who must stand to be Salt & Light, while at the same time pointing others to Christ. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we are commanded to do both. Please begin praying that God will soften the hearts of Senators Basnight & Rand, open their eyes to the merit of protecting marriage, and give them the courage to do what is right in God's sight. Also, prepare yourself for battle, so that the walls of Jericho might come down again. In His Service, Steve Noble, Chairman Back to Home Page |
