C2A... FYI Mid-Summer Update! Friends, We hope you are having a wonderful summer and we wanted to give you a mid-year "update" and let you know of an exciting development coming in the near future! NC MARRIAGE AMENDMENT: We got closer than ever this year in our fight to pass a constitutional amendment in NC that would protect marriage to the fullest extent possible (re-visit the ActionGrams here). The battle was fierce and we are proud of the pressure we were able to bring to bear on key legislators through ActionGrams and our alliance with The American Family Association (over 200,000 emails were sent statewide!). We fear that without a change in leadership at the legislature, the likes of Basnight & Hackney will continue to abuse their power to kill this measure whenever necessary. Like William Wilberforce, we will NOT give up. SEX-ED BILL: The defeat of this bill was a major win for "our side" and our school children in NC! Although we won this battle, the war is far from over. This was a "clash of the titans" so to speak with national groups like Planned Parenthood and NARAL bombarding our legislators with calls and emails. Despite their efforts, the sound-minded grassroots won the day. We were also encouraged by an opportunity we had to partner with the two Catholic Diocese that cover all of NC. We are confident that the hand delivered letter (given to Speaker Hackney and other key legislators) signed by both NC Bishops played a major role in the defeat of this measure. Rest assured, this initiative will be brought up again. We are already beginning to hear talk of a push to introduce this nightmarish agenda into our schools here in Wake County as early as October. We will not stand idly by if this radical agenda rears its ugly head again. Please be ready to act! HARVEST 07: Although this was not an official C2A function, I was able to play a significant role in it's development and many of you joined the effort as well! God used our existing church contacts and local influence in an amazing way! In fact, over the past 18 years the Harvest staff had never seen a crusade take off like ours did! We are so grateful to God that he would use these past three years of hard work in such an eternally significant way...Harvest 07 was a tremendous success with over 41,000 in attendance over the three nights and nearly 2500 decisions for Christ! Finally, we are very excited about an opportunity God has given us to take our message statewide over the airwaves!
