C2ActionGram Persecuted Enloe H.S. Teacher...Final Appeal to School Board on Monday, October 15th!!! Friends, Most of you know about Robert Escamilla, the Christian High School teacher who, after faithfully serving at Enloe H.S. for over twenty years, was put on a paid leave, investigated and then reassigned to another school. This started because of some remarks made by a guest speaker in Robert's class...a persecuted Christian from Egypt who shared his beliefs about the dangers of the Islamic faith.  That excuse for Robert's mistreatment was later set-aside and "morphed" into a case against his performance as a teacher (after 23 years of highly recognized service to Enloe).  Our concern is that the School Board and it's legal counsel, knowing that they had a weak legal footing on the guest speaker situation (free speech), changed direction and decided to make their case against Robert's teaching performance, taking the entire matter out of public view (all proceedings are closed) and effectively insulating themselves from scrutiny. Again, this is our concern based on what has happened and our dealings with this school system in the past. We have posted a point-by-point analysis on our homepage that was written by one of Robert's closest and most active supporters. Please take a few moments to look it over. In these last few days, there are several things that we can do to make a difference. First of all, we must all PRAY
Secondly, we must contact these Board Members by email and phone and urge them (politely and with love) to reverse this injustice and give Mr. Escamilla his job back at Enloe High School and clear his record. We must contact them as often as we can between now and Monday morning. I have included their home phone numbers and you should NOT be afraid to call them there - they are listed on the School System website or in the phone book and these people are ELECTED PUBLIC SERVANTS...we have every right to contact them at home and should. Mrs. Patti Head:  (h) 518-0171 (w) 850-8871  prhead@wcpss.net Ms. Beverley Clark: (h) 782-6246 (w)850-8870   bsclark@wcpss.net Mrs Eleanor Goettee: (h) 463-8647 (w)850-8873  egoettee@wcpss.net  Finally, please join other supporters of Robert Escamilla at the Wake County School System headquarters next Monday evening, October 15th at 5:00pm (3600 Wake Forest Road, 3/10 of a mile north of the beltline). Regardless of which way this goes, we need to remind our school system that we are paying attention and that we will take action when necessary. As Edmund Burke once said: "All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing" Our inactivity and apathy is killing this nation...I pray that we will reverse this trend before it is too late. In His Service, Steve Noble, Chairman     Back to Home Page |
